Getting things in order

To start off, I feel I must apologize that it has been so long since you have heard from me.  While I have been busy, there really is no excuse for not keeping you updated. One of my new year resolutions is to keep my website more current.  I can use your help, though.  The more feedback I receive, the more I am encouraged to work at keeping the site up to date.  So, I am looking forward to hearing from you!

Okay, here’s my blog:

Abundant Life Church started this year, as we do each year, with a 21 day fast.  This has been a practice of mine for 10 years now, but I don’t believe I have ever started a fast with as much hunger for a breakthrough as I did this year.  I had expectations in mind of what I wanted to see, but God had His own direction in mind.  It wasn’t too long into the fast, desiring many spiritual breakthroughs, that the Lord impressed upon my heart, “No, you need to get your life in order”.  I was a little surprised that this is what the Lord wanted to deal with, when I had so many other things in mind, but I felt that He was saying that as I get certain areas of my life in order, everything else I need will come.

There are three main areas where God is dealing with me: eating habits, finances, and time management.  So these past three weeks have been a great time of fasting and praying with the church, but also working on these areas.  Of course, my eating habits are under control right now because I am fasting ( I was WAY out of control at the end of the year), but even when the fast ends I will continue refraining from certain foods, especially fried foods and sweets, and limiting my carb intake.  As for finances, I am so excited that I have made my first budget and I can see where everything is going.  It has always been my desire to be a good steward of God’s money, and this will help me even more.  I am also working on being more disciplined with my time so that I can get more things done, such as studying, office work, preparing things, visiting people, and keeping you updated!

The Lord has been dealing with very practical things, but already I am seeing breakthroughs in the spiritual realm.  I am starting out this new year with much expectancy and I am excited to see what all God has in store.   As things are getting in order, I believe great breakthrough is coming!  There is already much going on, and will be posting soon about new ministry opportunities, and great things happening in the children and youth ministries.

Hey Mary Beth!
I'm not sure you remember me, but I wanted to drop in a line anyway to let you know how incredible I think the work is that you are doing in Lebanon. Thanks for the blogs and I wish you the best for this year and the remainder of your fast :)

Hey Mary Beth,

I felt like you were describing me exactly. I know that the Lord is also showing me that I need to give these three areas over to Him and to be obedient in what I know He is showing me to do.
I will be reapplying for my missionary visa in a few weeks and looking forward to being back in Rio no later than May.
I do enjoy reading your blogs and look forward to hearing what the Lord is doing through the ministry there.
Blessings,

Getting your life in order? I've went through Bible studies on that...what about those of us, (me), that have every area to get in order, not just 1 or 2?? It's so overwhelming! But, I know that God works with what He's given us, and, thankfully,
He's a VERY patient "Life Coach". Keep up the blogs, I always read them, even if I don't comment! Love you!
